Yeah, it may not always be about Bikes. But more than likely it will be. So get over it already.

Ready

Well, you ride miles and miles and miles and miles. You see a date out in the future and you think you'll be ready. As you get closer to that time, you ride more miles and more miles and more miles. I've watched my waist line shrink back down to where it used to be. I've steadily watched the heart rate run at lower rates for longer periods of time while pushing the speeds higher and higher. I've neglected the racer-x to put in the saddle time on the drop-u. And then, four days before the event, I still feel like I'm not as ready as I would like to be.

Saturday is El Tour de Tucson. This ride will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society via their Team in Training program. I've known about it since the summer. I've ridden a lot of hours and a lot of miles in between then and now. I still think I need to be a little stronger. This will mark my first full century on the road. But its not just any century. This one is a little bit extra. Its a 109 instead of a 100. We roll off the line on Saturday morning in Tucson at 7:00. Sometime, hopefully around lunch, I'll finish up. The scary part is that I have a plane to catch late that afternoon. I don't have a choice but to ride fast. So hopefully I'm ready. I guess I will find out all on Saturday won't I.

For any of you who want to support the cause, I'll post a post-ride report next week. The other thing you can do is give to the cause. Otherwise, pray I make it back with my taint in one piece. ;)
