Yeah, it may not always be about Bikes. But more than likely it will be. So get over it already.

New Job

Well, I've gone and done it. I've gotten a new job. What a freaking week this has been. I intercepted a phone call that was intended for a co-worker two weeks ago. I knew the guy on the other end, he used to work for us. We chatted and he asked if I had a current resume. I said sure and that I would get it to him over the weekend. He emailed back a couple of days after I sent it to him and said he would forward it on. I got the first phone call the next day. They wanted to talk to me very quickly. Given my schedule, I had to put it off until Monday.

I ditched work and went downtown to meet with them and interview. God smiled on me that day. My skills and experience are exactly what they were looking for in this position. Things seemed to go extremely well, but you never know. I was on pins and needles for the couple of days following. I couldn't sleep. My bike rides were difficult at best to burn the energy. All I could do was wait.

Two days later the phone rings. I recognize the number. Was it good or bad? The HR department was calling to inform me of the offer of employment. The salary was actually above the amount I asked for. They were answering every question I had without hesitation. I saved the best one for last. My current company's bonuses are due in the next few weeks. I was walking away from potentialy a lot of cash. So I decided to see if they would bite. They did. They came up with 3/4 of what I projected as the windfall. It was actually larger than I expected. How could I say no?

I start to work for Ascent Management on Feb 21st. The Monday after I go to Big Bend for a camping/racing trip. This should be good. And I'm sure the Big Bend stories will be superb!
